We were lucky to have so many amazing families come to our Veterans’ Day Assembly.  Many parents who were unable to attend, wanted to know a little more about our Vets - so here you go! 

To end the assembly, we had the Veterans walk through the halls while the kids cheered and thanked them for coming

Mr. John Bowman is Adam Bowman’s Dad:

Mr. Bowman graduated from West Point Military Academy, where he played football, and left the service as a Captain in the Army.  While serving in the Army, he was stationed at the 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii. He has deployed two times - once spending 14 months in Afghanistan and another time spending 15 months in Iraq.  He earned many meritory awards, including 2 Bronze Star Medals, an Air Assault Badge and a Combat Action Badge. Mr. Bowman and his family are new to Parker and so far they love it! Welcome!



Senior Deputy Rob Bratsch is Colton and James’ Dad;

Senior Deputy Bratsch is an Army veteran of 6 years, on the list for promotion to Sergeant at the time of his separation. He is currently working in law enforcement for the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office, and is a Senior Deputy with 16 years on the force! After spending his first 6 years working both in the jail and on patrol, he has spent the last 10 serving as a school resource officer. He has worked all grade levels and he is currently with the Cherry Creek School District, in several elementary and K-8 charter schools.   In September 2019, Senior Deputy Bratsch was awarded the MEDAL OF VALOR in Arapahoe County!



Mr. George Bundy is Isabelle, Addison and Ryan’s Grandfather: USN

Mr. Bundy was in the United States Navy from 1969 until 1972.  He was stationed in Long Beach, California on a ship called a MINESWEEPER!  The ship was made of wood, so it would not attract mines, which are explosive devices with magnets that float on the water.  Mr. Bundy’s fleet of 4 minesweepers was deployed to Vietnam in 1969, with stops in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Guam, the Philippines and Hong Kong!  Fun fact about Mr. Bundy - the whole time he was on the ocean he DID NOT know how to swim!



Captain Gordon Dann is Cooper Kruguel’s Grandfather:

Captain Steve Dann was a Commissioned Officer in the United States Public Health Service for 25 years.  After receiving his Masters from Tulane University, Captain Dann managed and directed programs for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and for the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons. Before retiring in 2001, he received the Meritorious Service Award from the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Captain Dann lives in Parker and is Cooper Kruegel’s grandfather.  He enjoys spending time with Cooper and his younger brother Dalton. Cooper and Dalton enjoy trying on Grandpa's special hat with "scrambled eggs" on the brim.



Senior Master Sergeant Adam Dunn and Master Sergeant Christine Dunn is Bradley & Mila Dunn’s Dad and Mom.

Master Sergeant Christine Dunn is an Analyst working on Buckley Air Force Base. She has  served in the Air Force for 18 years and have deployed twice in support of two major wars. 

Senior Master Sergeant Adam Dunn, has served in the Air Force for 18 years.  He is the Senior Enlisted Leader at the Aerospace Data Facility at Buckley Air Force Base. Since he has been in the military he has visited 36 countries.



Mr. Dan Eichenberg is MVE’s MVP!

Mr. Dan served as an Administrative Assistant in the United States Air Force!  He rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant, and now he is Mountain View Most Valuable Person!  We love you Mr. Dan!



Colonel Ken A Forest is Easton Forrest’s Grandfather:


Colonel Forrest retired after 37 years of active and reserve service U.S. Army Reserve.  His final assignment was , 91st Division Operations Officer responsible approximately 100,000 personnel in National Guard and Reserve Units for the 12 western states, Alaska, Hawaii, and the Pacific Island possessions.  He received the Legion of Merit and served in Germany and the United States.



Mr. David Gerbus is Ryan Gerbus’ Grandfather:

Mr. Gerbus served in the United States Army from 1983 to 1987. He served as a Captain in the Judge Advocate General Corps. His job was to serve as the lawyer defending service members who got into trouble with the law or military regulations. He was stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs.


Mr. Zac Hess is Liam Hess’ Dad:


Mr. Hess graduated from the Air Force Academy - Go Falcons! - in 1995. He didn't go into the Air Force.  Instead, he went into the Army to fly Blackhawk helicopters. He was stationed in a few different places in the United States; Colorado, Alabama, Kentucky, Kansas, and Texas.  He was also served overseas in Asia and was stationed in Seoul, South Korea. He stopped being a soldier in 2003 so he could become a teacher!



Mr. Dwain Hudson is Lizzie Hudson’s Dad:

Mr. Hudson served in the US Navy from 1988-1994.  He was stationed in Charleston, SC. He worked on surface to air missiles and other electronic warfare.



Chief Warrant Officer 2 David Jewell & Warrant Officer Angela Jewell is Ben Jewell’s Mom:


Chief Warrant Officer 2 Jewell & Warrant Officer Jewell are both stationed at the 743rd Military Intelligence Army Battalion, located at Buckely Air Force Base.  Chief Jewell works with satellites in space and Warrant Officer Jewell works with computers to stop the bad guys! Both of them love running, making paper airplanes and long walks on the beach!




Staff Sergeant David Lynch is Cameron Lynch’s Dad:

Staff Sergeant Lynch is currently serving on Active Duty in United States Marine Corps.  He has been serving in the Marine Corps for 12 years and has deployed to Afghanistan as well as Japan. He has been stationed in San Diego California, Beaufort South Carolina, Pensacola Florida, and Denver, Colorado. He is a Martial Arts instructor for the Marine Corps and works on the fighter jets you see on TV and video games. 



Mrs. Jennifer Metcalf is Holly Metcalf’s Mom:

Mrs. Metcalf served in the United States Navy for 10 years.  She was a Petty Officer in the field of Intelligence. She was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, Souda Bay, Greece, and Naples, Italy.  It was in Naples where she met Mr. Metcalf who also served in the Navy!



Mr. Manuel Ochoa is Jackson and Eva’s Grandfather:

Mr. Ochoa retired from the Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant. He spent time stationed in Hawaii and Panama, was deployed throughout South and Central America and now lives in San Antonio, Texas. Jackson and Eva spent last summer break with them enjoying lots of time at the pool. 




Mr. Matt Parker is Rylie & Raegan Parker’s Dad:

Mr. Parker served as a Sergeant in United States Army from 2004 to 2008.  He was an Abrams Tank Armor Crewman and awarded a Purple Heart, for being wounded while fighting during Operation Iraqi Freedom. 

Raegan & Rylie’s Grandpa also was able to join us!  He served in the Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis!  What a treat to have him meet the kids today!




Officer Al Shell is a friend of Mrs. Grotts


Officer Shell is currently serving with the Denver Police Department.   Before that, Officer Shell was Technical Sergeant Shell and served in the United States Air Force.  Officer Shell was stationed at Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota, Hahn Air Force Base, Germany, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, Osan Air Force Base, South Korea, and Buckley Air Force Base, Colorado.  A fun fact about Officer Shell is he enjoys playing goalie on a hockey team!











Mr. Larry Swain is Nina & Maya Swain’s Dad:


Mr. Swain served in the Navy for 7 years, where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant.  He served on the USS Baton Rouge as a Submarine Officer - where he once spent four and one half weeks straight UNDER WATER!  He has been stationed in Norfolk, Virginia and at the Pentagon in Washington, DC.





Sergeant Edwin Vasquez is Cody & Maddie’s Dad:


Sergeant Vasquez served for 8 years in the United States Marine Corps.  When he was a Marine, he jumped out of planes and helicopters! When he left the military, he became a Police Officer and now works for the Denver Police Department! 




Mr. David Wood is Maddie Wylie’s Grandpa


Mr. Wood served our country for 6 years in the United States Marine Corps.  He served in the infantry and says there are very few countries in the world which he has not been to!  Thank you for your service!





Mr. Henry Szychowski is Drew & Joey’s Grandpa


Mr. Szychowski was in Strategic Air Command Intelligence stationed in Omaha, Nebraska and Riverside, California.  He was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service from September 1966 until August 1967 for his service in Vietnam






Mrs. Kate Bufton is Huntley and Cayden Bufton’s mom

Lieutenant Colonel  Bufton has served in the United States Air Force for 18 years.  She is a pilot and has flown T1-A trainer aircraft and C-17 Cargo Planes in Asia, Europe, Africa, North America and South America - and Iraq & Afghanistan.  As you all know she now teaches World Cultures, and when she is not at school she is flying airplanes for the Air Force Special Operations Command.
