My Story

“Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.” Scott Adams

My name is Lindsey Ott and I am excited to be at Mountain View as the Art and STEAM teacher.  I was born in Kansas City Missouri, but have been in Colorado since I was two. I was raised in Evergreen and love all outdoor activities and spending time with family and friends. During my free time I go hiking, skiing, camping, travel and paint. I have a pet goldfish named Chalupa that is turning 14 this year.  I attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, and received my Bachelors of Arts, Visual Arts with an emphasis in art and a concentration in painting. I consider myself an educator with a passion for art and want to share that enthusiasm!

Home: About Me

Art and STEAM at Mountain View Elementary aren't just classes, I provide students with new adventures and ways of expressing themselves. When students come into Art and STEAM, it is another day to grow, think, learn, explore, discuss, write and create.

In Art your child will gain knowledge of different mediums and techniques (paint, clay, ink, printmaking and more). It is always an exciting experience to watch the children express themselves through the visual arts!!  Please remind your students not to wear their favorite outfits on art days. I remind all students to put on paint-shirts, but accidents may, and sometimes do happen!

In STEAM your student will problem solve, experiment, critically think, and create while focusing on science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM). Students will explore to figure out a problem. While students are working they will ask questions, research and investigate to enhance their learning.

I look forward working with Mountain View students and watch them develop new skills!

Art Club

Art club is over for this school year. Once I have more information on this upcoming school year I will put up Art Club dates and forms here.  However, I have added additional resources for students to do over the summer. You can find these activities by viewing my remote learning tab and summer tab for other fun activities!

I love to share your students artwork in the hallways and I will send artwork home when units are done. Information will also come home with artwork so you know what has been happening in the art class. If your student see's that all of their classmates artwork has gone home and they have yet to see it please give it two weeks. It is likely I have it hanging up in the hallway. Thank you for understanding!

Good questions to ask your student when they bring artwork home:

  • How did you do that?

  • Can you tell me about it?

  • Where did you begin?

  • Where did you ever get that idea?

  • What was your favorite part?

  • Have you ever done anything like this before?

  • If you gave it a title, what would you call it?

How can you help?

  • Volunteer. I always need extra hands with messy projects and hanging artwork up.

  • Recycled objects are always wanted in the art room! The art room and makerspace always needs "stuff". Any items would be appreciated.
