Students playing hockey

In physical education we are learning about hockey, a game that was invented in Canada.  We started the unit off by learning about our equipment and how to use it safely.  First steps to learning this great game was understanding how to use our tools (i.e. hockey stick).  Once we understood how hold our hockey stick, we started working on our stick handling, dribbling and passing.  Students found that using a stick wasn’t as easy as they thought, but with a little practice students got the hang of it and are loving this great game.  In order to continue our hockey skill development we are playing four goal hockey, 4 teams pitted against one another trying to score as many goals as possible while trying to defend their own goal.
